Afro-Andean Funk: Todo Migra
7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
1 Elgin Street, Ottawa, K1P 5W1
Two-time Latin Grammy-nominated Afro-Andean Funk make their Ottawa debut with the world premiere of Todo Migra, a new album about migration sung in Quechua and Spanish. Led by Peruvian singer Araceli Poma and American bassist-producer Matt Geraghty, the six-piece band braids Afro-Peruvian rhythms and Andean melodies into funk, jazz and psychedelic soul. Poma sings in the language of her grandmother, a healer from the mountains of Cajamarca — songs about leaving home, crossing borders, and what travels with you when you go. One night only at the National Arts Centre’s Babs Asper Theatre.
