Treat Accessibly is a grassroots movement that began in Toronto in 2017 when 6-year-old Siena Padulo asked how a child using a wheelchair could trick-or-treat at their home. What began as one family making their home accessible has grown into a nationwide movement, with more than 250,000 homes across Canada now participating in barrier-free Halloween. And 9 Treat Accessibly Halloween Villages are happening coast to coast. This is the one and only in Halifax officially run by the Treat Accessibly Founding Family.

Hosted by Treat Accessibly

Treat Accessibly was started at our family’s home in Toronto in 2017 to support one little boy who uses a wheelchair. That small act has become a national movement dedicated to helping any home become fully accessible at Halloween for the almost 1 million children in our country with mobility, sensory or neurological disabilities. Over 250,000 Homes Across Canada have attained one of the Free Lawn Signs and have Treat Accessibly on Halloween Night. This is all run by the family that started it. Our Treat Accessibly Halloween Villages, happening in 9 Cities coast to coast, was started when the Treat Accessibly family attended Halloween Festivities at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, and a Mom shared that her daughter had never gone Trick-or-Treating with her siblings because homes had too many accessible barriers to the door. The Treat Accessibly Halloween Villages have now been held over 28 times in cities coast-to-coast, ensuring that no child misses Halloween and inspiring other neighbourhoods across Canada to do the same.
