Three things to know …

  1. What music moves the artists you admire? Find out in this one-of-a-kind “mixtape” concert experience with the NAC Orchestra.
  2. A popular CBC broadcaster, storyteller, trombonist, and writer — Tom Allen is a true Renaissance man whose deep love of music is infectious.
  3. Renowned Canadian violinist Kerson Leong back to his hometown as he delivers musical fireworks in a set of surprise showpieces!

A personal love letter to his favourite music, Tom Allen curates a live-in-concert playlist of the orchestral works that have shaped his artistic world — a collection of popular classics and under-the-radar gems spanning nearly 300 years. Allen will bring his signature charm and deep musical insights to the Southam Hall stage, diving into the stories behind each work and why this music holds a special place in his heart.

Join Allen and the NAC Orchestra for an evening of thrilling emotional journeys from a trio of Canadian composers — Jacques Hétu‘s homage to the Québécois legend Alexis le Trotteur, Vivian Fung‘s Prayer with its message of resilience and faith, and John Estacio‘s Frenergy, a work of pure volcanic energy. Plus, bask in the elegance of 18th-century pieces by Mozart and Bach.

Hosted by NAC

The National Arts Centre (NAC) is Canada’s bilingual, multi-disciplinary home for the performing arts, including the NAC orchestra and Indigenous Theatre.
