Vierge, written by Rachel Mutombo and directed by Dian Marie Bridge, is a GCTC co-production with Black Theatre Workshop that delves into the lives of four Congolese-Canadian girls navigating faith, culture, and adolescence. Sixteen-year-old Divine’s only friend is Jesus until her family joins a new church, revealing complexities in the world around her. With heart and humour, this compelling story explores the pressures of Christianity, virginity, and societal norms as Divine, Bien-Aimée, Grace, and Sarah confront secrets, cultural expectations, and life-changing decisions. As they journey from girls to women, their friendships are tested—will they stand together or be pulled apart? Presented in English, Vierge runs Tuesday to Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m.
