SUMMARY:Webinar: Navigating the Economic Impact of Tariffs on the Workplace
DESCRIPTION:The imposition and announcement of tariffs on Canadian goods have caused economic upheaval and concern for many Canadians. Employers who have been or expect to be financially impacted by tariffs may be unsure about how to address the workforce changes that may be required as a result. It is important for employers to understand their options and their obligations as they guide their businesses through these uncertain times. \nJoin Veronica Blanco Sanchez in an informative seminar regarding options that may be available to employers if the economic impact of tariffs will require workforce changes\, and legal obligations related to such changes. The discussion will cover topics including the following: \n· Are there government measures that will provide impacted employers with assistance? \n· What can I do short of laying off or terminating employees? \n· What do I do if I have to lay employees off? \n· What do I do if I have to terminate employees? \nREGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:Dining with the Ambassadors
DESCRIPTION:Dining with the Ambassadors is the Rockcliffe Park Foundation’s principal fundraising event.  It is a special evening during which dinners are generously hosted at more than a dozen of the official residences of ambassadors and high commissioners who make Rockcliffe their home away from home. A unique twist on the “dinner at an official residence” format\, Dining with the Ambassadors is as much as anything else\, a celebration of neighbours. \nThe evening begins with a pre-dinner reception for all guests and hosts – the largest gathering of Rockcliffe neighbours – at the Rockcliffe Community Hall. It is only at this reception that our diplomatic neighbours and dinner hosts are revealed! Memorable dinners follow and friendships are made. Over the years\, this fundraiser has grown into a favourite neighbourhood tradition. \nFunds raised fund the Rockcliffe newsletter and RPRA events including our neighbourhood’s Heritage Walk\, Movie Night\, Rockcliffe Community Tree Day\, Speakers Program\, and the Children’s Holiday Party. Funds raised also support the Foundation’s commitment to ongoing environmental and conservation programs in Rockcliffe Park. These include water testing at the Pond\, tree planting to preserve our maturing tree canopy\, maintenance of the sports field at Rockcliffe Park Public School and Jubilee Garden\, and conservation initiatives including the data collection on Pond use so that efforts at both conservation and continued access to the Pond can be maintained.

SUMMARY:Jacks Gala: Reaching For The Stars
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for a night of hope and resilience at the Brookstreet Hotel!\n“Jack’s Gala: Reaching for the Stars” is a unique fundraising event that will step into an evening of celestial elegance. Enjoy a night out for an exquisite dining experience\, captivating entertainment\, and exciting auctions! All in support of finding a cure for Jack! Together\, let us be inspired and reach for the stars! \nThe Laidlaw Family\nWe are Richard and Anna Laidlaw\, and we live in Ottawa\, Ontario\, Canada with our family. We have 3 beautiful sons who bring so much joy to our lives: Jack who is 7 and in grade 2\, Scott who is 5 and in senior kindergarten\, and Tom who is 3 and in preschool.\nOur eldest son Jack is a bright\, happy\, friendly and empathetic boy. He has many hobbies ranging from hockey and other sports to playing piano! He dreams of being an astronaut and wants to be the first person to walk on Mars!\nUnfortunately In December of 2023\, Jack was diagnosed with SPG4. As his parents\, we were left feeling devastated and helpless. \nWhat is SPG4\nSPG4 is a rare genetic disease and neurological disorder. It is characterized by degeneration of neurons in the brain and spinal cord. The main symptom of SPG4 is muscle weakness and spasticity (stiffness) in the legs. Once symptoms begin\, neuron degeneration continues leading to progressive muscle weakness and spasticity. \nWe need your support\nBecause a small population is affected by SPG4 (1 in 50\,000 people)\, research for the SPG4 Cure Project does not have funding. It has fallen on families affected by SPG4 to raise money and fund this project so that the cure can reach human clinical trials. We are hosting “Jack’s Gala: Reaching for the Stars” to help raise money to fund research for the SPG4 Cure Project. This will be a night of hope for Jack and the Laidlaw family. \nFor more information please go to our website! \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Music Festiversary: Live Performances\, Pedal & Guitar Expo
DESCRIPTION:Come party! Empress Effects is celebrating 20 years of sonic innovation—and you’re invited. \nHosted at Ottawa’s historic and iconic Saint Brigid’s Centre for the Arts\, this all-day music and gear event combines a 20th anniversary party\, pedal and guitar expo\, and live music performances to bring you the world’s first Music Festiversary (“Musexpedal Festiversguitary” didn’t have the same ring to it\, but you get the gist). \nMeet over 25 pedal and guitar makers from around the world and try out their incredible products in our interactive showroom. Catch live performances by Menno Versteeg (with members of Hollerado)\, Boyhood\, Tyler Larson (Music is Win)\, True Cuckoo\, Ottawa’s own F8-bit\, and Andy Pitcher. Every ticket includes tokens to play the Clawmpress—a frickin’ Empress-branded claw machine packed with prizes—and yep\, there’s a cozy pub downstairs serving food and drinks all day. \nWith all this and more\, this is the first (and only) Music Festiversary you don’t want to miss. \nREGISTER NOW
