DESCRIPTION:Christmas cheer helps make the holiday season a little brighter for those who need a helping hand. The initiative began in 1951 (celebrating 75 years in 2026) and has since grown\, garnering support from numerous local organizations and celebrities. \nEstablished in 2007\, the Christmas Cheer foundation has long been cherished in the Ottawa community. The annual breakfast event brings together thousands of community members each year benefitting over 30 charities with food insecurity focus. \nJoin us and many other business leaders at this year’s event happening Friday\, December 5 at the Infinity Centre Ottawa.

He was elected Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada and sworn in as Prime Minister in March 2025. He leads a government that is taking action to unite and empower Canadians\, protect defend Canada’s sovereignty\, and build the strongest economy in the G7. \nBorn in Fort Smith\, Northwest Territories\, and raised in Edmonton\, Alberta\, Prime Minister Carney is the son of teachers and grew up with a strong sense of community and hard work. After graduating from St. Francis Xavier High School in Edmonton\, he earned a Bachelor of Economics from Harvard University in 1988\, followed by a Master of Economics in 1993 and a PhD in Economics in 1995\, both from Oxford University. \nPrime Minister Carney started his career in finance before joining Canada’s public service to help ensure our economy supports the things that Canadians value – like health care\, security\, and a life you can afford. As Governor of the Bank of Canada during the 2008 financial crisis\, he guided our country through one of the most turbulent economic periods in modern history\, protecting jobs and helping ensure that Canada came out stronger. In 2013\, he was recruited to lead the Bank of England\, stewarding the United Kingdom’s economy through Brexit and the economic and political crises that followed. In 2020\, he began serving as the United Nations Special Envoy on Climate Action and Finance\, helping rally the world to build stronger economies as we fight climate change. \nPrime Minister Carney’s government is focused on growing our great country\, creating more higher-paying jobs\, putting more money in Canadians’ pockets\, and making Canada more secure. \nPrime Minister Carney and his wife\, Diana\, are the proud parents of four children.
