SUMMARY:National Remembrance Day Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Each year on November 11\, the Royal Canadian Legion hosts the National Remembrance Day Ceremony at the National War Memorial in Ottawa to commemorate the men and women who have served in Canada’s military. The ceremony starts at approximately 10:45 a.m. with the arrival of dignitaries such as the Prime Minister\, the Governor General of Canada\, and the Silver Cross Mother – a woman whose child has died while serving in the military. Additional programming includes the national anthem\, two minutes of silence\, a wreath-laying ceremony and a rousing fly-past (weather permitting). At the end of the National Ceremony and throughout the day\, people remove poppies from their coats and place them on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The tomb is covered in red poppies by the end of the day. \nMembers of the public can also show support by purchasing a wreath. These will be pre-positioned by staff around the National War Memorial for the ceremony to act as a visual symbol during the event. You can also contact your nearest Legion Branch to purchase a wreath which will be placed at a local commemorative event. All proceeds go to the Legion Poppy Fund in support of Canada’s Veterans and their families.

SUMMARY:Ottawa Senators
DESCRIPTION:Take in the electric atmosphere of an NHL game in Canada’s capital and watch pro hockey players compete in the national winter sport.   The Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL) play against rivals like the Montréal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs\, among other Canadian and American teams. The Sens\, as they are colloquially known\, are supported by their Sens Army fans and by their friendly hairy mascot\, Spartacat\, who roams the stands giving high fives.   The Senators play at the Canadian Tire Centre in the west-end suburb of Kanata\, which you can reach easily by car or on game-day express buses. Inside the arena\, you can fuel up for the game with food and drinks from a wide range of vendors\, or dine at one of several on-site restaurants and bars.

SUMMARY:Webinar: The Recruitment Process: Navigating Incoming Legal Requirements under Ontario’s Employment Standards Act
DESCRIPTION:Since 2021\, the Government of Ontario has passed several iterations of its Working for Workers legislation\, each of which has amended important employment-related statutes like the Employment Standards Act (ESA) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. \nNotably\, the Working for Workers Four Act\, 2024 and the Working for Workers Five Act\, 2024 both created new legal requirements under the ESA in respect of the recruitment process. With these new requirements set to come into effect on January 1\, 2026\, it’s crucial that employers act proactively in the coming weeks and months to ensure that they properly understand the scope of their new statutory obligations and adequately prepare for compliance. \nJoin Jake Tolton in an informative webinar that will cover topics including: \n\nThe scope of the new requirements\, which touch specifically on publicly advertised job postings and related application forms\, post-interview communication with interviewees and record retention.\nAreas of potential concern or ambiguity that employers should be aware of in preparing for compliance.\nPractical tips and suggested steps for ensuring compliance with the new requirements as of January 1\, 2026.\n\nREGISTER NOW
