SUMMARY:Changing of the Guard
DESCRIPTION:Bring your camera to capture vibrant photos of soldiers in scarlet uniforms and bearskin hats as they perform precise drills to the music of a military band on Parliament Hill. \nThe impressive—and free—Changing of the Guard ceremony draws crowds to downtown Ottawa. With military precision\, the Guards arrive on the Hill at exactly 10:00 a.m. The Band of the Ceremonial Guard provides the music while the Guards are inspected and the Old Guard is replaced by the New Guard. The ceremony\, modelled after one in London\, England\, dates back to 1959. \nThe full parade takes place on Wednesdays\, Thursdays\, Fridays\, and weekends\, while the band performs only on Mondays and Tuesdays. \nThe Ceremonial Guard may cancel the ceremony in the event of inclement weather or conflicting special events.

SUMMARY:SARĀB / Lívia Mattos
DESCRIPTION:With its unique blend of Arabic music\, jazz and rock\, SARĀB is one of the leading groups of the Paris music scene. Born from the meeting between the franco-Syrian singer Climène Zarkan and the guitarist Baptiste Ferrandis\, SARĀB   — mirage in Arabic –is a musical building that combines rock\, contemporary jazz and arab traditional music which plays on borders and genres. The duo quickly turned into a six-headed creature\, where each became indispensable to musical creation. Robinson Khoury’s trombone links with the voice\, and navigates between the Eastern and European scales\, between ornamentation and a personal technique. It is with the trombone and the song that we find the horizontality of the Arab music\, upset by the rich harmonic verticality of the guitar and the piano. \nBahia-based accordion player\, songwriter\, vocalist\, filmmaker\, and visual artist Lívia Mattos has been developing her singular skills as a player and unconventional frontwoman since she started her artistic adventures as a circus performer. Her concerts blend Brazilian Popular Music\, burlesque jazz\, and circus sensibilities. She has collaborated with renowned artists like Rosa Passos\, Badi Assad\, and Chico César\, as well as the Symphonic Orchestra of Bahia. Mattos released her debut album as a songwriter\, Vinha da Ida\, in 2017. Its success led to tours in Europe and the Americas\, as well as earning her four prestigious Brazilian arts and culture awards. Her adventures continue with her latest album\, Apneia. Mattos is now touring with her long-term colleagues Rafael dos Santos (drums) and Jefferson Babu (tuba).
